In 1947, Crestwood was incorporated as a village and two years later by election, was declared a fourth-class city.

The City of Sunset Hills officially began ten years after that of Crestwood.  In 1957 the City of Sunset Hills was incorporated as a fourth-class city by the St. Louis County and held its first election in 1958.

The Crestwood-Sunset Hills area is conveniently located in the desirable southwestern portion of St. Louis County with the Gateway Arch, Lambert International Airport and Downtown St. Louis all under 30 minutes away.
